Written on 26th March 2020:
Firstly we would like to say our thoughts are with all our brides and grooms that are due to get married and are having to make the very difficult decision to postpone their wedding.
We as a family are trying our best to stay positive during this unsettling time and would like to be as flexible as possible while still maintaining the business.
So we have outlined our new Covid-19 plan here:
If you have booked with us and paid a deposit you can move your event to a later date, this may be later on in 2020 or into 2021. We will deal with dates on a first come first served basis. The date will be moved free of charge and we will transfer any money already paid across. You balance will then be due 1 month before this new date. If for any reason we cannot book you into your new chosen date because it is already taken we will not charge you the balance and you will be free to cancel and find a new supplier who can help, we have plenty of great local suppliers to recommend.
You are very welcome to email us with any questions regarding this email@example.com
Most importantly we urge everyone to talk to suppliers and venues and keep the conversations flowing. A good supplier and venue will be as flexible as possible and reassure you as much as they can.
Stay Safe everyone and lets hope this is over very soon!

Love this video! Each table and bench has to be put together on site, this does take time with larger hires but we’ve designed them so it’s a quick zip of the drill to tighten each bolt!
When hiring the tables and benches we always let you know how much time we estimate we need for set up and ideally we set up the day before your event.

Our Fete Games and Light Up Rustic Love will be here...
We don’t attend many wedding fairs because we tend to be very busy on the dates we’re invited to, however we always make a special effort for Crockwell Farm Wedding Venue!
Open Afternoon will take place on Sunday, 21st July from 2pm until 5.30pm.
The afternoon is an opportunity for both booked and perspective couples to have a look around the venue with family and friends.
The event is free and open to all with plenty of onsite free parking.
Joined by a number of their recommended suppliers and so there
will be plenty of experts on hand to answer any questions you may have.
Do let Crockwell Farm know if you would like to come along;
Our very own Christina and Craig who we blogged about last year have been featured in Rock N Roll Bride!!
Cristina and Craig were one of our absolute favourite couples to supply to and work with, hiring our Light Up Rustic Love, Chivari Chairs, Tree Slices, Signs and Umbrellas!

4ft Light Up Letters
3 years ago we took delivery of our new 4ft Light Up Love Letters. We love them, they are our favourite and most popular hire item along with the games and rustic furniture.
Finding the right size, font and quality proved more difficult than we imagined. We want to bring the best quality we can to the wedding we hire out to, and this means searching through a lot of websites.
Finally we found some and not too far away, which is always nice as we like to source from local businesses as much as possible. Applewood Event Hire light up Love letters available to hire are 4ft in height and around 20cm in depth with the popular warm white glow. We looked at other sizes but from photos we felt that 5ft seemed to take over the scene and really the bride and groom need to be the main attraction while the light up letters bring the WOW factor! 3ft just didn't seem to have the impact we were going for either. Many people we have spoken to have said the light up love letters are one of the main focal points at their event, so they need to stand out but not be in the way.
Now Applewood Event Hire have the light up LOVE letters ready along with DANCE, I DO and a rustic range available to hire out for weddings, parties and other events.
We have taken the big decision to merge with our sister company Little Wishes Hire. Its an exciting one as we will have a lot more to offer our customers and with more availability.
We will be keeping our name to Applewood Event Hire but adding Little Wishes stock. Little Wishes will be sad to lose their name as they are well known in the industry, but it will definitely be the best thing we've done as a partnership. We will still be run by Leah and Simon. Leah will take care of the smaller items including games and lights and Simon will take care of the larger furniture and dance floor hires, but we will share the combined hires.
Same values, different name!
Today we are starting to make our Rustic Tables and Benches. We’ve been sourcing the materials and looking through designs for a couple of months now to make sure they are just right.
Each table will be made from reclaimed scaffold boards cut to 6ft long by 3ft wide, leaving room to seat 6-8 people around them depending on how you position them. They will be finished in an antique stain which will match our new Cross Back Chairs as well as the benches we are making!
The 6ft benches are going to be made from the same wood and stain and be able to seat 3 per bench for eating.
This is our most exciting build so far and we really can’t wait to finish the first set so we can show you.
Simon is brilliant at making items and over the years has fine tuned a real talent for woodwork. Only a couple of years ago Simon made the Vintage Fete Games for Little Wishes Hire and most of the Garden Games. This summer he also made a mud kitchen for our daughter!
For the future of Applewood Event Hire we are going to use these skills to make more unique items for our customers to hire.

We’ve added cross back chairs to our hire range
Last week we were very excited to go and see our new supplier of cross back chairs! There premises was amazing. We got to see the chairs being sprayed, their whole range of chairs and seat pads and they explained how they mend old chairs.
We went with the idea of wanting a rustic looking cross back chair with a comfortable seat pad. So glad we went to view as the photos just don’t do the supplier justice. The chair we have settled on is a gorgeous antique wash which looks very rustic and has a lovely shade to it. We also chose a natural seat pad. We looked at the rattan style pad but were worried about it snagging dresses and getting caught on things.
Our order will arrive in the late December ready for 2019!
If you book in 2018 you’ll get some great prices!

Why we decided to add cross back chairs to our stock
We knew from the start that we would hire out the essentials including chivari chairs and round tables. However we also know at heart we love the rustic look and the hand made style which is also why we are in the process of making our rustic wooden tables!
Cross back chairs are becoming very popular in the rustic barn and marquee wedding sector so hiring these out was a no brainer!
We love how each one is hand crafted and made of solid wood. They look great with a little foliage added onto the main Bride and Groom Chairs as well as with sashes or just left plain.
We can't wait to start getting these chairs out your event!
